Catholic Schools
A solid foundation at home and in school is the key for our children's success. With three secondary and twenty-five elementary schools, our Diocesan system enrolls over 6,000 children annually with an average of one instructor for every seventeen children. All educators are required to be state certified with a minimum of an undergraduate degree. All of our Diocesan schools are accredited by the Middle States Association. While religion courses are an essential part of the curriculum, our schools are open to catholic and non-catholic students, and we believe that we must respect each student's faith commitment.
More than 400,000 students have attended catholic schools in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese since 1840. These days approximately 90% of our high school graduates are admitted to four-year degree programs at universities and colleges across the country. Over 94% of our high school graduates attend some type of post secondary education.
We are committed to maintaining the long tradition of excellence in education by providing the unique blend of learning, Christian formation in gospel values, community service, and discipline which will prepare catholic school students for the challenges they will face in the third millennium.
