Donations to Pontifical Mission Societies Increase

The National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States recently announced good news about donations to the agency.

According to a letter from Msgr. John Kozar to the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, offerings to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith increased by about $1,145,000 in 2008. Kozar said the toal available for distribution to the Missions throughout the world to more than $50 million.

Kozar went on to say that donations to the Propagation of the Faith from the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown totaled $294,853 in 2008. The contribution to the Society of St. Peter the Apostle was $4,420 and the donation to the Holy Childhood Association was $8,856.50.

Kozar concluded the letter by saying that Catholics of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown are remembered in the prayers of the poor and at daily Masses at the national office.
